====== Uploading from a URL ====== To upload to the Fossology data-base you must be logged in. To upload a file from a URL using the graphical user interface, select **Upload->From URL** from the main menu. {{fossology-upload-from-url.png|}} There are 6 simple steps. - Pick a folder to store the upload in. If you don't care, use the default which has already been selected for you. The folder **must** already exist. If it does not, use the **Organize** menu to create a folder. - Select the URL to upload, there is a //650MB limit// on uploads. **NOTE:** If the URL requires authentication or navigation to access, then the upload will fail. Only provide a URL that goes directly to the file. The URL can begin with HTTP://, HTTPS://, or FTP://. - Enter a short description of this upload. A description is optional, but is a good idea to help keep track of your uploads. - Enter an optional folder name for this upload. If you do not pick a name, the filename of the file will be used. This name will be the name of the //upload folder//. - Select the type of analysis desired. Usually all the boxes are selected, as these are the default agents. Fossology does not preselect them for you as you might have different needs or agents. - Select the upload button. You should receive a message that your upload has been scheduled. [ Screenshot needed here ] As mentioned in [[How to Upload Files for Analysis]] uploads can take time. Check the **Jobs->Queue** to monitor your upload.
