Uploading from Web Server

To upload to the Fossology data-base you must be logged in.

To upload a file from the fossology web server using the graphical user interface, select Upload→From Server from the main menu.

NOTE: If your site configuration uses separate agent machines, the material to be upload must be mounted on each machine and be accessible to the web user.

There are 7 simple steps.

  1. Pick a folder to store the upload in. If you don’t care, use the default which has already been selected for you. The folder must already exist. If it does not, use the Organize menu to create a folder.
  2. Select the file or directory to upload.
  3. Select the amount of material to upload. The default is to upload only the files (no sub folders or directories) in the specified directory. If you wish all material to be uploaded under the directory, select the other button. Be careful with this option, very large amounts of data can be scheduled for upload and analysis, which in turn, can then take days to complete.
  4. Enter a short description of this upload. A description is optional, but is a good idea to help keep track of your uploads.
  5. Enter an optional folder name for this upload. If you do not pick a name, the filename of the file will be used. This name will be the name of the upload folder.
  6. Select the type of analysis desired. Usually all the boxes are selected, as these are the default agents. Fossology does not preselect them for you as you might have different needs or agents.
  7. Select the upload button.

You should receive a message that your upload has been scheduled.

As mentioned in How to Upload Files for Analysis uploads can take time. Check the Jobs→Queue to monitor your upload.
